Life after Peyton Manning? Maybe Sooner than We Want.
Now that Jim Caldwell is gone, I feel like there's one more "domino" to take care of, and from reading Caldwell Exit Signals Change by Bob Kravitz and listening to theHill & Schlereth radio segment on ESPN, where Mark Schlereth made a very convincing argument that Peyton Manning could be gone, I am leaning towards that area of thinking. While it would be such a great loss for the city of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Colts team, you can see the writing on the way. Words like rebuilding and new era came up yesterday in the press conference where Ryan Grigson, Colts GM, said that Jim Caldwell was out. If Manning is going to be kept around, wouldn't Caldwell have been kept around for that continuity and another run at a Super Bowl? Yes the Colts will do all they can this upcoming year to make a run, but if they draft Luck and still have some of the same pieces we have now, are we going to go to the promised land? I think not. But Colt fans should be ready for this era of Luck, whether we want it or not. I was debating on going into detail on how Peyton Manning will be remembered, but I won't write that eulogy yet, and let's see if this final domino does fall.
