Butler has a letdown at Detroit: 76-65
And even that score is deceiving. The Bulldogs were down 8-0 after about 10 seconds, and you could tell this was going to be a rough game. Some bad trends happened in this game as Butler was down at halftime for the 12 time in 17 games, not a good sign. And they were down double digits most of the game, you won't win many games when you have to come back like that. At one point, the deficit was 23 points. Just as soon as I thought Butler was turning the corner with a four game winning streak, they went out and laid an egg in Detroit. Just to show how tough the Horizon League as well, Butler started the day tied for first place and now are tied for fifth place. They have two games coming up against league leaders, and essentially need to win both those games to have a shot at the league title. Remember the first and second place teams have a much easier time winning the league tourney as they get byes to the semi-finals. That means as the first and second place teams you have two win two games, and you're off to the NCAA Tourney. Hopefully Butler will enjoy the friendly confines of Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday night and pick up the win that they will need. Cleveland State and Youngstown State come to Hinkle for game, both teams ahead of Butler. Get a couple of wins there, and you're right back in the league lead.
