Pecking Order

Thank you IU Basketball for being relevant early this college basketball season, looks like my Butler Bulldogs will be pushed to the background as we get to hear about the revival of Indiana.  You know Butler probably likes it better that way. It's always better to be the underdog who achieves something more.  But is Butler really an underdog?  Two trips to the National Championship game where they could have won at least one of them.  Possibly could have won both. Oh no I sound like an IU fan living in the past.

So let's get to the present, Butler should be an interesting team, who is picked to be first in their league. I wonder how much longer they will stick around the Horizon league if they continue to dominate the way they do.  Some bigger conference has to come calling eventually, right?  And have to wonder about Brad Stevens.  He did say a huge 12 year deal back a couple of years ago, but if some big school offers everything under the moon, would he take that job?  I don't think he would.  I think he would have had some offers already as well.  So Butler will continue with a great young coach who brings that something special to the team.  I hope that Butler can get consistent, and the pieces fall together. It's all about the Butler Way, and if that happens, this season can be something good.  Finishing first in the league and making it to another NCAA tourney would be a cherry on the top.
